McQUEEN'S ARMADILLOS

Everyone thought nothing new could be done anymore but Alexander McQueen proved us all wrong with one of his last creations. "The Armadillo" is a marvel of fashion design, a whole new approach to shape, materials and shoe arquitecture over all. Yes, their shape is completely out of this world and yes, it's extremely hard to walk on them (even seasoned pros like Natasha Poly, Sasha Pivovarova and Abbey Lee Kershaw wouldn't catwalk on those babies) but understanding why the dillos are so important to fashion lies on believing that YES, new stuff can be done. These shoes are the material proof of why creators should push every line and boundary there is out there.

Todos creímos que nada nuevos podría ser creado pero Alexander McQueen nos hizo ver qué tan equivocados estábamos con una de sus últimas piezas. "El Armadillo" es una maravilla del diseño de modas, una total nueva propuesta en forma, materiales y arquitectura de zapatos. Sí, su forma es completamente fuera de este mundo, y sí es extremadamente difícil caminar en ellos (hasta experimentadas profesionales como Natasha Poly, Sasha Pivovarova y Abbey Lee Kershaw se negaron a caminar la pasarela en estos bebés) pero entender por qué los dillos son tan importantes para la moda yace en creer que SÍ se pueden hacer cosas nuevas, estos zapatos son la prueba material del por qué todos los creadores deben empujar la línea y los límites que existen.

GAGA + VEZZOLI + BOLSHOI + AKERLUND

Last November, commemorating the 30th anniversary of the MOCA, Francesco Vezzoli created and delivered a one-time performance of the Bolshoi Ballet accompanied by Lady Gaga (who we adore to death). Dressed in Prada, and wearing a Frank Gehry hat, Lady Gaga played a Damien Hirst grand piano that later sold for $450,000.

Thankfully for all of us who weren't there, Swedish filmmaker Jonas Akerlund documented the evening and now he brings us in the form of a trailer, "The shortest musical you will never see again", a wonderful compilation of intimate behind the scenes moments and footage of the actual performance that gives us chills, it's really gorgeous.
